Esperance continued

As expected we have spent the last week visiting various beaches in the area and doing lots of walking thereon. We drove the "Ocean Drive" which is 40km along the shore with many viewing places along the way. The beaches are accessible via steps which are very good for a cardiovascular workout as they are steep and up to 130 in number. The drive also takes you to Observatory point and along the shore of (another) Pink Lake which was not pink at this point in time.

The drive out to Cape Le Grand was pleasant apart from the road works and it was certainly worth the trip. Le Grand beach is enormous with white sand and aquamarine water much more intense in colour than Cable Beach. Hellfire beach was much smaller in size but the waves were more impressive. For us to actually get into swimmers and paddle in the water the temperature had to be just right! The seashore here certainly matches if not exceeds the east coast even Jervis Bay.

Whilst the rest of the country seems to have been experiencing quite severe heat we have only had one day when the temperature reached 39.5 degrees in the van, the rest of the time the maximum has been in the mid twenties with a gentle breeze....
