Top end sojourn

The photo is for Connaugh, Jack and Jay, just a couple of Aliens we saw at Wycliffe Wells the supposed UFO Capital of Australia.

Well we made it. We arrived in Darwin this morning doing the last 160km in a leisurely fashion. Last night we stayed in a nice park at Hayes Creek, a little different from the normal road stops we have been staying at, the others have been in flat desert country where as Hayes was very hilly. The van park was in a bowl, very green, in the middle of gold mining country and a real running creek with fish, I was almost tempted to get the fishing rod out.

We are planning to stay here for three weeks before going to Western Australia. We had a phone call from Maureen and Richard a couple from the caravan club, they are staying about 10km away in another park. We will probably meet them on Sunday and go together to the Mindl Markets in the evening to watch the sunset from Mindl beach and feed on some Asian food, particularly king prawns on skewers. We had some three years ago on our last visit and they are Very Nice.

The park we are staying at is in Hidden Valley and yes the race course is not far away and we could hear the Fords and Holdens battling it out all afternoon.

Setting up today was very different, the temperature was in the high 20s and muggy. As Maruta said the sweat was running from our bodies for the first time since last summer.
We heard Canberra was -5 last night, we are expecting an overnight temp of 20 with 30 max tomorrow. Oh well I suppose we will have to spend time in the pool.!

You both look rugged up just like us in Canberra. You may as well have stayed here.lol You DO sound relaxed though. Keep on having fun and keep up the diary. It's great. M
